About The Position

Teaches specific grade level subject matter to diverse middle school student population following District standards-based curriculum. Helps all students develop competence and confidence simultaneously through a balance of acquiring basic skills and developing conceptual understanding. We are looking for an enthusiastic Music Teacher to inspire students’ love for music. The role involves teaching vocal and instrumental skills, leading group performances, and fostering creativity through various music genres. The ideal candidate will create an engaging, supportive classroom environment that encourages students to develop their musical talents and appreciation.

Requirements

Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field required.
A Master's Degree is only required for Concurrent Enrollment positions.
Have a valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license. Click here for additional information regarding specific requirements and qualifications for the various subject areas (DPS does accept a CDE Application Receipt for 90 days.)

Responsibilities

Counsels students to encourage and support student achievement.
Monitors, supervises, coordinates, and enforces rule of conduct and behavior of assigned students and reinforces positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policy.
Observes, evaluates, reports, and records student performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
Prepares lesson plans and materials according to District approved curriculum guidelines.
Adapts teaching methods and instructional materials to meet varying needs and learning styles.
Instructs students individually and in groups using various teaching methods (e.g., lectures, technology, discussions).
Establishes and communicates clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
Prepares, administers, assigns, and grades tests and assignments to evaluate student progress, reporting grades using District software.
Prepares student, attendance, and activity reports as required by administrators.
Communicates with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve student behavior and academic problems.
May participate in extra-duty activities such as coaching, tutoring, or summer programs, as outlined in the Teachers’ Collective Bargaining Agreement and in accordance with Department of Labor regulations.
