About The Position

This position is for the 2026-2027 School Year - Beginning date is 7/28/26. Classes include Airforce Aerospace Science 1-4. Summary: The Teacher, Secondary Grades 9‐12, JROTC, is responsible for the instruction of designated Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) content area(s)/course(s) in a classroom setting within a secondary school. DISTRICT EXPECTATIONS: All district employees must:  Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance. Physical presence is expected as part of a reliable and predictable pattern of attendance.  Support the district’s vision, mission, goals, and Strategic Plan.  Engage in civility, respect, and professionalism.  Maintain the professional knowledge and skills necessary to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of their positions.

Requirements

  • Letter of eligibility from commanding officer of respective military branch stating designation of ROTC eligible is required.
  • Reads, analyzes, and interprets all kinds of documents.
  • Responds to inquiries or complaints from employees, regulatory agencies, or community.
  • Writes speeches and effectively presents to managers, the public, and school board.
  • Works with math concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry.
  • Applies concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Microsoft Office
  • Standing, walking, sitting, handling, keyboarding, talking, and hearing.
  • Up to 10 pounds.
  • Both dominant and non‐dominant hand; overhead.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and implements appropriate instruction of content area(s)/course(s) assigned in accordance with state standards, district curriculum, and students’ needs.
  • Creates a positive educational climate for students to learn in an atmosphere of respect and rapport.
  • Creates and delivers relevant and rigorous lessons that maximize student engagement and achievement.
  • Utilizes a variety of teaching practices and methodologies that reflect diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds in order to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Observes and evaluates student performance and mastery of standards, monitors student assessment data, and maintains student grades and attendance.
  • Manages student behavior in the classroom by utilizing effective classroom management strategies and invoking appropriate disciplinary procedures.
  • Communicates with parents and school/district personnel regarding student progress and encourages parental involvement.
  • Takes all responsible precautions to provide for the health and safety of students and to protect equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Appropriately maintains and secures confidential records, inquiries, and data.
  • Maintains appropriate certifications and professional development hours as required.
  • Engages with local business and community stakeholders by maintaining a Program Advisory Board, to collaborate with the CTE program.
  • Participates in extracurricular JROTC activities
  • Engages in continuous improvement and professional development, including earning appropriate industry certifications.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned.
