About The Position

Under general supervision, assists the Teacher to provide developmental care and supervision to children enrolled in the childcare center. Learning experiences shall be provided to foster the intellectual, emotional, social, and physical development of children within a safe, healthy learning environment. The teacher will plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum and establish and maintain supportive relationships with children and parents. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assists the teacher in planning and implementing age-appropriate curriculum involving various activities to stimulate and foster childrens intellectual, emotional, social, and physical development and abilities. Acts in the absence of the teacher as required and performs other related duties as assigned. Research, plan, and develop age-appropriate activities for lesson plan in conjunction with the lead teacher. Provides continuous supervision to children enrolled in the childcare center; ensures health and safety of children. Utilize appropriate language, interactions, and positive discipline, model positive behavior. Ensure that the classroom environment and outdoor play area is clean, safe, attractive, organized and promotes learning. Records daily observations of childrens behavior and activities; monitors behavioral patterns, assists and collaborates with teacher to discuss and participate in childrens developmental assessments. Communicate with families about incidents that have been observed and/or recorded on site. Complete and submits records and reports in a timely manner as required for self and others; maintains accurate attendance and enrollment records. Maintain current knowledge in the field of Early Childhood Development by engaging in professional development activities such as trainings, workshops, and classes to meet annual state requirements.

Requirements

  • Prefer Child Development Associate, Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or 30 semester hours w/ six credits in ECE. Minimum of high school diploma will also be accepted.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Normal routine includes but are not limited to dependent patient transferring tasks, lifting tasks, repositioning, tasks, bathing patients in bed, making occupied beds, dressing patients, turning patients in bed, and tasks with long durations.
  • When a lift or carrying task involves more than 35 lbs. of the patients weight, or is unpredictable and could exceed 35 pounds, then assistive devices should be used.
  • Objects weighing 35-50 pounds lifted on a regular basis. Mechanical lifting devices (carts, dollies, pallet jacks, forklift trucks, etc.) or team lifts should be utilized
  • Work requires the ability to stand up to two or more hours at a time
  • Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue. The candidate may work in a patient care area; works in an area where patients enter; works directly with patients; and/or works with specimens that could contain Mycobacterium tuberculosis. There may be an occupational risk for exposure to TB and the incumbent is required to take TB control training, PPD skin tests and/or health screenings
