About The Position

This is a part-time Early Intervention Teacher's Aide support position located in the Blessed Sacrament IU Preschool classroom. The role is directly responsible to a teacher or a support services professional such as a guidance counselor, physical therapist, or occupational therapist. The position involves assisting professional staff with activities related to the delivery of instruction, supervision, and physical care of students, as well as performing clerical, record keeping, and instructional support duties. The aide will also carry out instructional, technical, behavioral, or therapeutic activities as prescribed and supervised by the teacher or support professional.

Requirements

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information to students in individual and small group situations.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Must be able to complete and maintain certification in first aid, CPR, and Handle With Care Behavior Management Systems course (HWC), or crisis prevention intervention (CPI) training as appropriate.
• Must be able to apply skills and techniques from these trainings.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Possess current Act 114 (FBI Fingerprinting), Act 151 (Child Abuse History), and Act 34 (Criminal Record Check) clearances.
• For Aide I: High school diploma or GED equivalent and successful completion of Paraprofessional Assessment.
• For Aide II: High school diploma or GED equivalent AND associate's (or higher) degree or a minimum of two years of college (64 credits) or practical nurse's certification.
• Special training/experience required for aide/interpreters and aide/Braille readers/writers (if applicable).

Responsibilities

• Assist professional staff with activities related to the delivery of instruction, supervision, and physical care of students.
• Perform clerical, record keeping, and instructional support duties as required by the teacher or support professional.
• Carry out instructional, technical, behavioral, or therapeutic activities as prescribed and supervised by the teacher or support professional.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher or support professional and approved by the Program Supervisor.
