About The Position

The Teacher position provides support to the instructional process with specific responsibility for supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas. This includes developing lesson plans and delivering group and/or individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines, collaborating with other teachers, professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues. The classroom teacher is also responsible for responding to a wide range of inquiries from students' parents or guardians regarding the instructional program and student progress.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Valid Arizona Teacher certificate with Required Endorsements
  • Experience as a teacher
  • Criminal justice/Fingerprint clearance
  • Demonstrated general proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook

Responsibilities

  • Administer the curriculum guides of the District as based on state adopted standards
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials based on district curriculum guides, standards, and expectations; includes emergency plans in the case of absence and/or illness
  • Establish and communicate well-defined objectives for each lesson, including relevant projects and activities
  • Translate lesson plans into learning experiences that reflect research-based instructional strategies, including a variety of instructional strategies such as inquiries, group discussion, lecture, discovery, etc.
  • Communicate and plan with other members of the staff in the delivery of meaningful instruction for shared students who participate in other programs such as special education programs, CTE, ELL, etc.
  • Attend staff meetings and district in-service programs
  • Serve on school and district committees as requested and able
  • Discharge instructional and non-instructional school-related activities in a thorough and timely manner
  • Supervise, evaluate, and provide work assignments to assigned instructional assistants and/or student teachers
  • Act as a supportive and contributing member of the professional staff by participating in group decision making
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance professional skills and maintain Arizona certification
  • Evaluate, provide, and maintain accurate reports and records of individual student progress on a regular basis
  • Identify and refer unusual student behavior to the appropriate specialists
  • Report any student injury or illness or injury to self on school grounds or at school events to the site nurse and principal
  • Enforce and follow the school and district approved discipline plan
  • Supervise students at all times on school grounds or at school events
  • Know and observe Board policies and regulations
  • Advise administration in accordance with established policies and complete all required forms accurately and in a timely manner
  • Account and maintain inventory for classroom, school and district property as required
  • Advise administration of needed repairs, replacements and/or unsafe building conditions as soon as they occur
  • Follow school regulations regarding emergency procedures
  • Report to work daily at the times assigned and remain on duty through the time prescribed
  • Submit and justify purchasing recommendations to support and enhance the instructional program to the Site Principal or designee
  • Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss student educational needs and progress
  • Interpret and communicate school policies and programs to students and parents
  • Maintain appropriate records as required by site and district level administration
