About the position

The MEDscience x MOONSHOT Teacher & Program Coordinator role at Harvard Medical School is designed for an individual passionate about teaching and program coordination in STEM education. The position involves teaching physics and coding to high school students, facilitating hands-on projects like building robots, and co-teaching in a medical simulation lab. Additionally, the coordinator will manage partnerships, marketing, and logistics for the MOONSHOT program, aiming to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes in life sciences.

Responsibilities

  • Teach in a co-teaching team delivering a semester-long curriculum to local high schools and summer programs.
  • Deliver interactive lectures and simulation cases using HMS MEDscience pedagogy.
  • Facilitate engineering and physics activities tailored to student interests and learning styles.
  • Participate in teacher training to develop science content and classroom management skills.
  • Assist in developing and implementing a marketing and outreach plan for MOONSHOT.
  • Cultivate partnerships in the robotics and medtech ecosystems.
  • Coordinate the MOONSHOT schedule and logistics with classroom teachers.
  • Manage social media content for the program.
  • Oversee seasonal staff and manage performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • 1+ years of engineering or start-up experience.
  • 1+ years' experience teaching physics.
  • Strong foundation in computer science and biology.
  • Experience in the design thinking process.
  • Excellent project management skills with attention to detail.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and a strong team player.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with AI.
  • Experience in marketing/social media.
  • Experience with LEGO products.
  • Interest in research and writing for scientific publications.
