About The Position

The mission of CWC Kansas City is to provide an excellent public education focused on developing and demonstrating understanding while building connections within the school community. CWC Kansas City teachers will implement a high-quality, challenging academic program that includes curriculum consistent with the constructivist learning theory, and developing project- based, interdisciplinary units that allow students to develop and then demonstrate their understanding actively and creatively. We are looking for candidates who have experience with similar models of instruction, working in diverse communities, and a solid understanding of supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of young children. Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) and appropriate Missouri PE Teacher Certification
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including English language learners and students with special needs
  • Experience organizing and managing a student-centered learning environment that includes age-appropriate, culturally-responsive management practices
  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills as well as a desire to collaborate with colleagues to help develop a strong school community
  • Maturity, humility, strong work ethic, sense of humor, and a can-­‐do attitude

  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate physical education curriculum and lessons aligned with the Missouri Learning Standards for Physical Education. Instruction should build foundational movement skills, coordination, physical literacy, and healthy habits in young learners.
  • Create an active, inclusive, and joyful learning environment where all students feel safe, encouraged, and motivated to participate. Foster confidence, teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship through structured play and cooperative activities.
  • Teach and reinforce fundamental movement skills including balance, coordination, agility, strength, and spatial awareness, helping students build the physical foundations necessary for lifelong wellness and participation in sports.
  • Integrate social-emotional learning practices into physical education by supporting students in self-management, collaboration, goal setting, and respectful competition.
  • Plan and submit lesson plans in a timely manner that reflect intentional sequencing of skill development and thoughtful classroom management strategies.
  • Observe, assess, and document student growth across grade levels, using assessment data to support student progress, communicate development to families, and strengthen the overall elementary PE program.
  • Contribute to the completion of student progress reports in the fall and spring and assist with scheduling adjustments during conference week.
  • Maintain a safe and well-organized physical learning environment by modeling and teaching appropriate use of equipment, safety procedures, and respectful participation.
  • Support school-wide initiatives, programs, and community events as assigned, contributing to a strong and collaborative school culture.
  • Engage actively in professional learning through internal development opportunities, collaboration with colleagues, school visits, and participation in conferences or charter school professional networks.
  • Maintain consistent, respectful, and effective communication with students, families, colleagues, and school leadership.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and reliability by meeting deadlines, maintaining strong organization, and honoring commitments to students, colleagues, and the broader school community.
