About The Position

Requirements

  • Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Teaching Certification in Physical Education/Health K-12.
  • Proficient in preparing rigorous and interactive lesson plans.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Desktop Publisher, and database management.
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues, parents, and administrators.
  • Superior interpersonal skills for facilitating educational experiences in a high-energy environment.
  • Discretion and confidentiality regarding district requirements and policies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-directed, highly motivated, and able to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate student achievement by instructing assigned classes and planning a program of study that meets individual needs.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students' maturity and interests.
  • Prepare lesson plans and provide evidence of preparation upon request.
  • Guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for lessons.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs of students.
  • Encourage students to maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports as required.
  • Diagnose learning disabilities with the assistance of district specialists.
  • Maintain accurate records as required by law and district policy.
  • Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside instructional hours.
  • Implement the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals.
  • Protect students, equipment, and facilities during instruction.
  • Assist administration in implementing policies and rules governing student conduct.
  • Plan and supervise assignments for aides and volunteers, and evaluate their performance.
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development activities.
