About The Position

Under the direction of the school principal, the PE Teacher/Athletic Director is responsible for supporting the Diocese of St. Augustine in its mission to educate, evangelize, and catechize youth in a Catholic school environment. This role requires the individual to recognize and support the unique Catholic mission of the school by speaking, acting, and instructing consistent with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, and to not espouse any doctrine inconsistent with these teachings. The teacher will work collaboratively with the principal to build the faith community, demonstrating lived Gospel values through personal example and active participation in a faith community. Key aspects of the position include maintaining physical and informational security, respecting confidentiality and privacy, and adhering to all diocesan and school policies and regulations while supporting the school’s spiritual, pastoral, and educational mission.

Requirements

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Must maintain Professional Educator certification in the State of Florida.
Must have or be able to obtain within two years Basic Diocesan Ministry Certification.
Ability to respect, promote, accommodate, and not be in conflict with the mission, moral and social teachings, doctrines and laws of the Roman Catholic faith in the way one speaks, acts and instructs.
Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
Must successfully pass the required criminal background check prior to employment and every five years.
Must complete Protecting God’s Children (PGC) workshop prior to employment.
Proficient in use of computer technology, including school-related software.
Ability to have flexibility in assessing needs and strategies and adapt appropriately.
Must consistently demonstrate a positive, friendly, respectful and caring attitude with colleagues, the public, and all one serves in word and deed.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate school-related events.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, vendors, employees, and the general public.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Nice To Haves

Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church and registered member of a Catholic parish faith community is preferred (for some teaching positions this is required; consult with the school principal).
