The Teacher of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) is responsible for designing and delivering engaging, inquiry-based interdisciplinary lessons that integrate the STEAM disciplines in alignment with middle school curriculum standards. The teacher fosters a learning environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills while promoting exploration of real-world applications. This position requires the teacher to utilize project-based learning, hands-on experiments, and technology to inspire student interest and achievement in STEAM fields.

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver rigorous STEAM-focused instruction aligned with district and state standards.
  • Integrate science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics concepts into cohesive, student-centered learning activities.
  • Facilitate project-based and inquiry-driven learning experiences, including the use of digital tools, engineering challenges, and creative design tasks.
  • Incorporate coding, robotics, makerspace activities, and other emerging technologies into classroom instruction.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and abilities of middle school students.
  • Foster students' problem-solving, analytical, and creative-thinking skills through hands-on activities and cross-curricular connections.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across multiple content areas to design interdisciplinary projects and school-wide STEAM initiatives.
  • Assess student performance using a variety of formative and summative measures, and provide timely feedback to students and parents/guardians.
  • Maintain a classroom environment that promotes inclusivity, collaboration, and respect for diverse ideas and perspectives.
  • Participate actively in professional learning communities, trainings, and district initiatives related to STEAM education.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate in STEAM or a related field (science, technology, engineering, art, and/or mathematics) (K-8 or Business Certification would be considered with relevant experience).
  • Advanced course work or degree in Instructional Technology, computer science or related technology education.
  • Teaching experience in STEAM related classes. Candidates should provide a portfolio with examples of STEAM related work.
  • Knowledge of basic robotics, microprocessors such as Arduinos and Micro:bits, 3D printing, and coding.
  • In depth knowledge of Google Workspace applications. Google Certification is a plus.
  • Knowledge of effective educational theories and practices involving technology and their infusion into the curriculum.
  • Ability to work effectively with staff, parents, community members, and students to maintain and strengthen sound human relations for the improvement of the school program.
  • Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously in a multicultural, diverse community.
