About the role We’re seeking world-class educators to inspire the next generation of Metal Fabrication and Welding students! Share your skills and passion for your industry, help students build the skills, qualifications, and employability to support their career goals. As a TAFE NSW Teacher of Fitting and Machining, you will deliver high‑quality, hands‑on training that equips students with the practical skills and technical knowledge needed across the mechanical trades. You’ll draw on your industry experience to teach areas such as mechanical maintenance, precision machining, toolmaking, CNC operations and hydraulic systems, ensuring learners can confidently work with modern equipment and technologies. In this role, you’ll play a key part in developing job‑ready graduates and supporting their pathways into diverse, long‑term careers across multiple industries.

Requirements

  • Hold appropriate subject knowledge and skills, and at minimum hold a Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Have a minimum of five years post-qualification industry experience relevant to your qualifications, gained no longer than five years previously.
  • Hold evidence of the required teaching qualifications to deliver Vocational Education and Training (VET). See the candidate support document ( here ) for details.
  • Be prepared to develop and maintain your VET knowledge and skills as well as your industry currency, and trainer/assessor competence.
