The ideal candidate will provide engaging, standards-based music instruction that supports student creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving. This position emphasizes problem-based learning, interdisciplinary integration, and collaboration to ensure the success of all students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Music Education or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Valid state teaching license or certification.
  • Strong knowledge of literacy and mathematical teaching methodologies.
  • Colorado READ Act Certification (required for all Colorado licensed teachers; out of state licensed teachers will have one year to complete certification)
  • Occasional lifting of 5 to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand or walk for 90 minutes.
  • Ability to run short distances.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, walking, standing, kneeling, crawling, squatting, reaching, and sitting.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Google Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver problem-based, standards-aligned music instruction that meets the needs of diverse learners.
  • Assess student progress regularly and use data to inform instruction and support student growth toward mastery.
  • Communicate student progress effectively with students and parents/guardians.
  • Create a positive, structured classroom environment by establishing routines, procedures, and expectations aligned with school policies.
  • Manage student behavior consistently and fairly in accordance with school discipline systems.
  • Provide accommodations and modifications to ensure access and success for all students.
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams to plan and support grade-level and community performances.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to strengthen instructional practices and develop interdisciplinary, problem-based learning experiences.
  • Establish a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Responsible for managing student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing routines and procedures, maintaining discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school, and applying appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary.
  • Promote active participation and maintain discipline in accordance with school policies.
  • Establish and maintain positive communication with parents and/or guardians regarding student’s behavior where appropriate
  • Work with colleagues to plan interdisciplinary units and share best practices.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching strategies.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and school administration.
  • Collaborate with colleagues with the intent of deepening pedagogical content knowledge, improving teaching practices, and creating problem-based learning opportunities.
