About The Position

Under the direction of the school principal, the Teacher-Minister, Kindergarten is responsible for supporting the Diocese of St. Augustine in its mission to educate, evangelize, and catechize youth in a Catholic school environment. This role recognizes and supports the unique Catholic mission of the school by speaking, acting, and instructing consistent with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, and may not espouse any doctrine inconsistent with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. The teacher works collaboratively with the principal to build the faith community, giving evidence of lived Gospel values by personal example and by being an active member of a faith community.

Requirements

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Must maintain Professional Educator certification in the State of Florida.
Must have or be able to obtain within two years Basic Diocesan Ministry Certification.
Ability to respect, promote, accommodate, and not be in conflict with the mission, moral and social teachings, doctrines and laws of the Roman Catholic faith in the way one speaks, acts and instructs.
Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
Complete Protecting God's Children.
The ability to successfully complete a criminal history and background check.
Proficient in use of computer technology, including school-related software.
Ability to have flexibility in assessing needs and strategies and adapt appropriately.
Must consistently demonstrate a positive, friendly, respectful and caring attitude with colleagues, the public, and all one serves in word and deed.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate school-related events.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, vendors, employees, and the general public.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Nice To Haves

Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church and registered member of a Catholic parish faith community is preferred (for some teaching positions this is required; consult with the school principal).

Establishes a consistent classroom management approach that promotes self-direction and a positive self-image.
Sets high standards for student behavior and manages inappropriate behavior effectively, in accordance with school policy.
Participates in continuous professional development as a lifelong learner.
Performs other related duties, as assigned.
