About The Position

The Breen School is seeking a Special Education Teacher responsible for planning and co-teaching alongside core content teachers within a grade level. Instructional models-including inclusion, pull-out, and co-teaching-will be determined in accordance with students' Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). The ideal candidate believes in the potential of every student and is committed to fostering a classroom environment where all learners are supported, challenged, and empowered.

Requirements

• Massachusetts Teacher Certification in Special Education.
• Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred.
• Proficiency in English required; bilingual in Spanish highly preferred.

• Strong collaboration skills to ensure alignment with fellow educators and instructional partners.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate effectively with colleagues in grade-level and vertical content planning meetings.
• Attend and actively participate in IEP, 504, student support, and other team-based meetings.
• Contribute to family engagement initiatives and maintain regular communication with parents/guardians.
• Establish and sustain collaborative working relationships with paraprofessionals assigned to the grade level.
• Demonstrate skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds.
• Monitor individual student progress and adjust teaching strategies based on ongoing assessment data.
• Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress and development.
• Promote parent and community involvement in student learning and classroom activities.
