About The Position

The Itinerant Special Education Teacher for Special Education Assessment Services for the School Age Child Find team provides assessment of student skills and abilities in academics across content areas and grade levels. Supports the special education evaluation process for students with suspected or identified special needs in District schools, private schools, or alternative settings. Supports all District special education eligibility categories for evaluations, including consultation support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education is required;
  • Have a valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Teaching License with an endorsement in Special Education.
  • 1+ year of experience with educational assessments used for assessing students for eligibility for special education as well as experience with assessment bias and knowledge of informal assessment and evaluation measures is required
  • Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations and families
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Google Suite, including Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal directions
  • Ability to be adaptable and flexible within various job duties and assignments
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours between to make an 8 hour work day
  • Position requires frequent travel throughout the district

  • Experience working with  students with disabilities and their parents preferred.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities who represent the diversity of the District school community is preferred.

  • Works collaboratively with colleagues, other central providers, and building-based providers; actively participates as a team member, sharing accountability for team success, demonstrating empathy, and building trust with staff, students, and parents; and demonstrates a growth mind set, promoting the growth of others by sharing knowledge and experience
  • Develops positive relationships among coworkers, school staff, parents, and students; contributes to meaningful conversations around equity and removing barriers to success for all students; and focuses on the impact of cultural and linguistic variables for English Language Learners in the school setting
  • May participate in extra-duty activities as outlined in the teachers' collective bargaining agreement (this is for coaching, tutoring, or summer programs, etc. for Dept. of Labor laws).
