About The Position

Summary of Functions Assist lead teacher with classroom policies and procedures to provide education and instruction to children in a healthy safe environment. Assist the lead teacher with activities to develop social, intellectual, emotional and physical growth. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist with the care of the children by changing diapers, assisting children at meal time, and sanitizes the center throughout the day and as needed. Ensures the children are safe and healthy. Cleans and prepares the center for the next day, being careful to follow licensing requirements. Assists in different classrooms as needed Assists with meal preparations as needed. Builds strong relationships with the children, parents, co-workers, management and the Kalispel Community. Learn the Kalispel language and culture and use at CELC. Responsible for meal time clean up (disinfecting tables, chairs, sweep and mop floor, etc.) Knows, understands and follows minimum licensing requirements, Kalispel Tribe Policies, CELC Policies and Procedures, etc. Attends training and staff meetings. · Be respectful, courteous, and friendly to all customers, parents, children, co-workers, supervisors, managers and directors, other tribal employees and tribal leaders. · Team player that helps the organization meets its goals and objectives. · Display positive and effective communication with customers, parents, children, co-workers, supervisors, managers and directors, other tribal employees and tribal leaders. · Demonstrate honesty and ethical behavior. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One year of experience in early childhood, child development, or elementary education preferred.
  • Must be able to relate effectively with children, parents and staff.
  • Must be dependable and punctual.
  • Requires ability to work as part of a team.
  • Twenty hours of STARS coursework is required at the start of the job or within 6 months of hire.
  • First Aid and CPR training and certification required.
  • HIV/AIDS and BLOOD BORNE PATHEGONS training required.
  • Must be able to obtain a food handler’s card.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurability under the Tribal vehicle/equipment insurance plan is required.
  • Must pass a TB test.
  • Must pass Tribal and Child Care Licensing background checks.
  • Must favorably pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screenings.
  • Hepatitis A & B vaccinations required.
  • This position requires the ability to bend, stoop, lift, carry, and move items weighting up to 50 pounds.
  • This position requires significant amounts of standing or walking.
  • This position may require the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
  • This position requires some amounts of work to be performed outside general business hours. Shift may vary depending on staffing needs. Evenings and weekends (Fri, Sat, Sun) may be required.

  • Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) preferred.
