About The Position

As a Home & Careers Teacher at the Tilton School, you’ll be much more than an educator. You’ll play a key role in helping students heal, grow, and discover new possibilities. Our students have often faced adversity and educational gaps, but they also show incredible potential. Through practical, hands-on instruction, you’ll teach essential skills in areas such as nutrition, cooking, financial literacy, career readiness, decision-making, and personal wellness. Your teaching will be personalized and grounded in each student’s goals. You’ll work in a structured environment with small class sizes and a high staff-to-student ratio, allowing for deeper connections and meaningful support. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree and a valid NYS teaching certificate in Family and Consumer Sciences (Home & Careers), or an equivalent teaching certificate obtained through a NYS-approved pathway that leads to a master’s degree in education and permanent certification
Must meet all NYSED and agency training requirements
Skilled at building rapport with students who have experienced adversity
Able to create engaging, real-world lessons that support academic and life skill development
Organized and responsive to deadlines and documentation requirements
Comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary team
Open to learning and reflective practice
