About The Position

The Teacher for Health & PE at Nash County Public Schools is responsible for providing direct instruction to students, helping them learn essential subject matter and skills that contribute to their development as responsible adults. The role involves creating a conducive learning environment, planning and implementing a curriculum, and evaluating student progress under the supervision of the school principal.

Requirements

• Four year degree from a college or university
• Major, or 24 semester hours, in subject area to be taught
• Passing score on Praxis II Test in subject area to be taught
• Valid N.C. teaching license/certificate, or ability to obtain one
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals
• Ability to compose and write routine reports
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with basic computer operation and software
• Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs
• Skill in establishing effective relationships with students, peers, and parents

Responsibilities

• Teaches District approved curriculum
• Meets and instructs assigned classes in designated locations and times
• Plans a program of study using various instructional techniques and media
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning
• Takes precautions to protect students and materials
• Assists administration in implementing policies and rules
• Encourages students to maintain standards of classroom behavior
• Guides learning towards curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives
• Assists in diagnosing learning disabilities with district specialists
• Evaluates academic and social growth of pupils and prepares progress reports
• Maintains accurate records as required by law and district policy
• Available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside instructional hours
