Under the supervision of the Principal and/or Assistant Principal, the 6th Grade Math Teacher delivers engaging, standards-aligned instruction that fosters problem-solving, mathematical reasoning, and real-world application of math concepts. This role emphasizes hands-on learning, conceptual understanding, and best instructional practices to support student growth in mathematics. The teacher designs, implements, and assesses a comprehensive educational program while fostering social, behavioral, and academic development. Key Responsibilities: Plan and deliver engaging, hands-on math lessons that align with district, state and national standards. Utilize best practices in math instruction, including conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and application of mathematical thinking. Incorporate problem-based learning, real-world tasks, and mathematical discourse to deepen student understanding. Use manipulatives, models, and visual representations (e.g., number lines, area models, graphs) to support learning. Differentiate instruction and use formative assessments to meet diverse student needs and monitor progress. Integrate technology and digital tools to enhance mathematical understanding and engagement. Collaborate with colleagues, families, and support staff to enhance student success. Essential Physical Requirements: Occasional lifting of 5 to 10 pounds (e.g., classroom materials, manipulatives). Frequent sitting and standing for instruction and classroom facilitation. Occasional bending and squatting to assist students and organize learning materials. This position requires a dynamic educator committed to fostering confidence, perseverance, and a strong foundation in mathematical thinking for all students.
