About The Position

Café Momentum is seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher to join our nonprofit organization, which focuses on providing a 12-month paid post-release internship for young men and women coming out of juvenile detention. The Teacher will play a key role in creating a positive and engaging learning environment, helping interns develop social and life skills while working closely with the Director of Education to meet educational goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to education and the ability to inspire and motivate at-risk youth.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (Math/Science preferred).
• Teaching certification/license (must have or have previously been certified in Math 8-12).
• Previous teaching experience preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Passion for the organization's mission and values.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with online learning platforms such as Imagine Learning, APEX, and Essential Education (GED preparation).
• Ability to work in an emotionally demanding/stressful environment.
• Sensitivity to cultural backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement effective and engaging enrichment lessons to support online subjects.
• Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
• Develop weekly Individual Learning Plans with students.
• Enter attendance daily using spreadsheets and Salesforce.
• Establish a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
• Manage student behavior and create a conducive learning atmosphere.
• Assist with keeping accurate records of student information and compile reports.
• Collaborate with the Director of Education to identify student needs academically and emotionally.
• Work closely with classroom tutors to enhance the learning experience.
• Identify and address individual learning needs through differentiated instruction.
• Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress.
• Participate in community outreach initiatives and events as needed.
• Stay updated on educational best practices and participate in professional development.
• Assist with scheduling and coordinating meetings, appointments, and events.
• Assist with enrolling students into CM Academy and coordinate graduation ceremonies.
