About the position

The ESE Support Facilitator is responsible for providing support to students with disabilities, their general education teachers, and ESE teachers to promote the inclusion of these students in the general education curriculum. This role focuses on enhancing student achievement through cooperative consultation and co-teaching, while ensuring compliance with IEP requirements and fostering collaboration among educators.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for students with disabilities to enhance their achievement in the general education class setting through cooperative consultation and co-teaching.
  • Transition between general education classrooms while collaborating with general education teachers and assisting students with disabilities.
  • Arrange for alternative classroom and testing accommodations for students with disabilities.
  • Develop, adapt, and assist in creating curriculum and test materials to meet the needs of teachers and students.
  • Model small group instruction to students with disabilities in general classes and pullout settings.
  • Provide consultation services to general education teachers on best practices related to instruction of students with disabilities.
  • Document the provision of services outlined on the IEP for students on their caseload using the District’s electronic management system.
  • Prepare progress reports for students on their caseload quarterly in accordance with the end of each quarter.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress towards IEP goals by maintaining consistent data collection.
  • Participate in training programs to enhance individual skills related to job responsibilities.

Requirements

  • An earned bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Certified by the State of Florida in any area of Exceptional Student Education.
  • Knowledge of regular curriculum, modified (ESE) curriculum, assessments, and classroom accommodations and modifications.
  • Ability to work well with general educators, parents, and ESE teachers in a co-teaching setting.
  • Ability to communicate with school staff to carry out cooperative consultation on fully mainstreamed students with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of varying teaching methodologies.
  • Technology skills are required for the position.

Nice-to-haves

  • A minimum of three (3) years of successful experience working with students with disabilities.
  • Bilingual skills.
