About The Position

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • Must meet state teacher certification eligibility requirements; certification in reading, ESOL, or special education preferred.
  • Two years of teaching experience preferred.
  • Ability to instruct youth in basic academics and manage behavior in a structured environment.
  • Must pass state background check and meet Eckerd's auto insurance and driving requirements.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs. and physically intervene as necessary.
  • Must be free of communicable diseases as per federal guidelines.
  • Completion of all required training and certifications within 6 months of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in reading, ESOL, or special education preferred.
  • Two years of teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons that encourage critical thinking and active learning.
  • Use a variety of evidence-based teaching strategies tailored to students' individual needs, interests, and learning styles.
  • Provide access to technology and instructional resources to support learning.
  • Maintain a positive, well-managed classroom that promotes academic achievement and student pride.
  • Integrate subjects through thematic units and offer vocational/career instruction as needed.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in compliance with IDEA.
  • Administer standardized and diagnostic tests as required.
  • Track and analyze student performance data to inform instruction and improve outcomes.
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners.
  • Work collaboratively to enhance student learning and program success.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement efforts focused on student achievement.
  • Maintain accurate student records and ensure organized, safe, and engaging learning spaces.
  • Recommend and manage instructional materials and classroom supplies.
  • Attend all required training and professional development sessions.
  • Immediately report any safety concerns or inappropriate behavior per policy.
  • Assist with behavior management and physical intervention if necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
