About The Position

Assess English Language Proficiency of Non-English Language Background (NELB) student for all newly arriving students. Assists in the administration of the state-mandated English Language Proficiency Assessment (ELP) annual test. Analyzes and interprets English Language Proficiency test results and documents the test results in student information system. Travels between and supports multiple schools by providing expertise and serving as a liaison for English Learners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in a related field Required
  • Two (2) years classroom teaching experience Required
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of second language acquisition
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective teaching of students who are English Learners
  • Communication, and collaboration with parents, school staff, students, external stakeholders
  • Student management
  • Organization, data-based decision making, and problem solving,
  • Technology skills: Teams, Microsoft Office, Excel, SharePoint, iOS, and/or other district applications or equipment as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Administers the state-mandated English Language Proficiency (ELP) initial screening and state-mandated English Language Proficiency (ELP) summative assessment.
  • Analyzes and explains English Language Proficiency testing procedures, scores, and services to students, families, school staff, and community.
  • Works with internal and external stakeholders to set testing appointments, collect assessment records, and update student information across multiple online platforms.
  • Provides support and collaboration with school and district staff to facilitate ELP testing, data conversations, and training.
  • Support schools by providing expertise in language acquisition and serve as a liaison to ensure accurate identification, placement, and services for English Learners
  • Assists district registration staff with additional tasks for enrollment of newly arriving students
  • Attends in-person meetings, training workshops, and related professional development to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Travels between multiple school locations during a single workday.
