About The Position

This posting is for candidates who would like to be considered for any and all STIP Substitute openings at OUSD. This is not an advertisement of a current vacancy at OUSD but rather an opportunity to submit applications to be screened for anticipated vacancies. School Site Based Substitute A participant in the Substitute Teacher Incentive Plan (STIP) is a substitute teacher who serves at a specific school site every day for the entire period of the STIP contract and is required to report daily to an assignment of any grade level or subject area. QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires at minimum a 30 day Substitute Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) Candidates can qualify to apply for this Permit if they have a Bachelor's degree All Candidates need to have a Certificate of Clearance on the CTC before being authorized to work. Important Information Regarding the Basic Skills Requirement: On June 29, 2024, Governor Gavin Newsom signed a budget trailer bill, SB 153 (Chap. 38, Statutes of 2024), that allows candidates to use their bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education (IHE) as demonstration of the basic skills requirement, effective immediately. PSA 24-07 : outlines the Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education (IHE) as demonstration of the Basic Skills Requirement. If your circumstances indicate you need this exam, you may already meet CBEST/Basic Skills through your SAT, ACT, coursework or another qualifying exam. Requirements

  • This position requires at minimum a 30 day Substitute Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC)
  • Candidates can qualify to apply for this Permit if they have a Bachelor's degree
  • All Candidates need to have a Certificate of Clearance on the CTC before being authorized to work
  • Two current professional references, including from a Supervisor

Responsibilities

  • Be prepared to work every instructional day as assigned on a day-to-day or long-term basis
  • Sign a temporary contract designed specifically for this purpose
  • Participate in district and/or school site in-services as assigned
