We are invested in creating and maintaining affinity spaces for educators that support retention and socio-emotional support. We provide extensive professional development and training for experienced and new teachers , including National Board Certification support in partnership with UC Berkeley, innovative curricula, ongoing mentoring and advancement opportunities. In addition to professional development and training: We accept up to twelve years of full time teaching experience in other school settings on the salary schedule (please see our salary schedule here: OUSD Salary Schedules Ranges - Oakland Unified School District ) Full medical, dental, and vision benefits, including Flexible Spending Accounts, plus life insurance and long-term disability coverage for teacher and dependents at no cost to full time teachers - Benefits Office - Oakland Unified School District Retirement benefits through the CALSTRS Retirement System BCLAD Stipend - $3,000 with a valid BCLAD or Bilingual authorization. In partnership with Rooted , Oakland Unified Educators have access to more affordable housing. Engage with Community: Build strong, positive, and collaborative relationships with students, families, and the wider Oakland community to support student success.

Requirements

  • Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree
  • Candidates must be eligible for employment in the US and pass a criminal background check.
  • Candidates must possess, or be willing to earn, a California teaching credential.
  • Candidates must have two current professional references on file, including one from a previous supervisor.
