About The Position

The Early Childhood Education (ECE) Faculty member is responsible for providing high-quality instruction, mentoring, and leadership in the preparation of future early childhood professionals. This position supports the mission of the institution by promoting developmentally appropriate practices, in early learning environments. Designing course syllabi for MN Professional Educators Licensing and Standards Board 1. Teaching & Curriculum Development Design and deliver courses aligned with early childhood education standards. Incorporate developmentally appropriate practices and culturally responsive pedagogy. Integrate play-based and experiential learning approaches. 2. Student Support & Mentorship Advise and mentor students pursuing careers in early childhood education. Model professional behavior and ethical practices 3. Professional Standards & Competencies Demonstrate knowledge of child development, family engagement, and inclusive practices. Apply NAEYC Professional Standards and Competencies, which emphasize promoting development, learning, and well-being for children birth through age 8. Develop/write curriculum embedding MN PELSB and cultural standards throughout the curriculum. 4. Assessment & Continuous Improvement Use observation and assessment tools to evaluate student learning Reflect on teaching practices and adapt based on feedback and outcomes. 5. Collaboration & Community Engagement Work with colleagues, families, and community partners to strengthen early childhood programs. Participate in professional development and contribute to program growth. Additional Expectations This is a grant funded faculty position that will last three years. The first two years will be writing curriculum to meet accreditation for MN PELSB requirements. The faculty will teach courses for the following one year. Culturally Responsive classrooms: Ensure all children have access to high-quality learning environments. Compliance: Follow health, safety, and licensing requirements for early childhood programs. Flexibility: Adapt to diverse classroom needs and evolving educational standards.

Requirements

  • Master's degree with a major in education.
  • Three full-time years (or equivalent) of verified teaching experience as the elementary or secondary level.
  • One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field.
  • The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
