Requirements

  • BA, BS in early childhood education required
  • 5 years’ experience in early childhood education
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Competency in Google Classroom and basic computer knowledge
  • Experience working with 3-5 year olds

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Plan creative and age-appropriate curriculum
  • Maintain a clean and organized classroom with adherence to all OCFS regulations
  • Teach in the prescribed manner, using the New York State syllabus and appropriate curriculum materials as guides
  • Use instructional strategies that meet the differentiated learning styles of students and employ innovative strategies to meet the state mandates
  • Ensure program delivery adheres to all regulations, laws and standards set forth by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) and the New York State Office of Children and Family (NYSOCFS) and the City School District of Albany Early Childhood Education Program.
  • Follow all expectations set forth by the CSDA ECE particularly those regarding classroom management and set-up, screening, progress monitoring, and learning outcomes
  • With the other teacher(s), supervise all classroom assistants and 1:1 aides
  • Provide classroom management techniques based on the PBIS and Pyramid models
  • Maintain daily contact with parents and hold a yearly meeting on-site
  • Furnish and implement weekly plan sheets
  • Maintain up-to-date paperwork including meal accounting, anecdotals, behavior tracking
  • Plan and initiate curriculum in accordance with the New York State Education Department Common Core requirements
  • Attend weekly team meetings and participate in other meetings, assessments as needed
  • Attend all training sessions required by the Program Administrator, the Albany City School District, New York State Education Department or Office of Children and Family Services, and any other regulating body requirements
  • Keep abreast of developments in the field of education, teaching resources and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities
  • Call Child Protective Services when necessary and according to mandated reporter regulations
  • Abide by the NYS Justice Center and the SAI Codes of Conduct/Ethics
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
