About the position

The Dyslexia Teacher is responsible for implementing evidence-based, multi-sensory reading instruction for students identified with dyslexia at designated campuses. This role involves collaboration with the district's dyslexia coordinator, campus administrators, and teachers to effectively meet the reading intervention needs of dyslexic students. The teacher will follow and promote the district's philosophy of a comprehensive dyslexia and reading program, ensuring that all instructional goals align with campus and district objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and facilitate the dyslexia reading program for the campus.
  • Provide in-service activities for the identification of dyslexic students and their curriculum and instructional needs.
  • Support and provide resources for teachers and parents of dyslexic students.
  • Conduct formal and informal campus meetings regarding dyslexia instruction and reading intervention.
  • Monitor and act on the results of student achievement data through disaggregation, interpretation, and analysis.
  • Ensure confidentiality of students with learning differences and the identification processes of dyslexia, Section 504, and IDEA.
  • Promote a positive, supportive, learner-centered environment.
  • Participate in district and campus committee meetings, dyslexia, reading/writing training, and work sessions as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Teacher Certification
  • Knowledge in the prevention and remediation of language-based reading and writing difficulties
  • Knowledge of the characteristics of dyslexia and common risk factors
  • Ability to guide instruction with differentiation through analysis, interpretation, and use of student data
  • Minimum of three years teaching experience

Nice-to-haves

  • Academic Language (Practitioner/Therapist) preferred
  • Experience providing reading intervention or dyslexia therapy is preferred
