About the position
The Teacher - Dyslexia position is a special education role focused on providing support to students with dyslexia across the district. The position is located at the Academic Support Center and is responsible for implementing educational strategies tailored to meet the needs of students with dyslexia. The role requires collaboration with other educators and staff to ensure that students receive the necessary support and resources to succeed academically.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with dyslexia.
- Provide direct instruction and support to students in a variety of settings.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and teaching methods.
- Monitor and assess student progress and adjust instruction as needed.
- Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student progress and needs.
- Participate in professional development and training related to dyslexia and special education.
Requirements
- Valid teaching certification in special education.
- Experience working with students with dyslexia or similar learning disabilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team of educators.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with multi-sensory teaching methods.
- Knowledge of current research and best practices in dyslexia education.
