About The Position

The Teacher Pool position involves planning and implementing an instructional program in Drama/Theater while providing related educational services. The teacher will manage student behavior, assess and evaluate student achievement, and modify instructional activities as required. The role includes serving as a Drama/Theater education classroom teacher, with classes that may be single grade or multi-grade level, often subject-oriented but may also be skill or specialty-oriented. Some positions may require working off-site or in a combination of off-site and classroom settings. The applicant pool is viewable for employment in grades Pre-K-12.

Requirements

  • Valid educator license in Drama/Theater or eligible for a conditional license.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or institution.
  • Knowledge of federal laws protecting educational services for students with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment of instructional specialty.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
  • Ability to select instructional planning, management, and evaluation procedures.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents.
  • Ability to move about the room to check student work and monitor behavior.

Responsibilities

  • Assess student abilities as related to desired educational goals, objectives, and outcomes.
  • Plan and implement appropriate instructional/learning strategies and activities.
  • Develop, adapt, modify, and individualize educational materials and strategies to meet student needs.
  • Establish and maintain effective discipline and management procedures.
  • Manage the behavior of learners in instructional settings.
  • Coordinate instructional activities and collaborate with other professional staff.
  • Request assistance from and work with resource personnel as needed.
  • Participate in in-service and staff development activities.
  • Continually assess student achievement and maintain appropriate documentation.
  • Ensure continuous communication with parents regarding student progress.
  • Manage allotted learning time to maximize student achievement.
  • Assign work to and oversee paraprofessionals, parents, and student volunteers.
  • Ensure classroom environment is attractive, healthful, safe, and conducive to learning.
  • Make off school site visits to monitor students or confer with employers or site instructors.
  • Support or participate in school-wide student activities and social events.
  • Monitor student behavior in non-instructional areas and intervene as necessary.
  • Collaborate with other professionals to carry out school-wide activities.
  • Sponsor or coordinate extracurricular activities such as clubs and academic contests.
  • Perform and promote all activities in compliance with equal employment and non-discrimination policies.
