About The Position

The Teacher for Career and Technical Education (CTE) in Health Science is responsible for providing students with engaging learning activities and experiences that promote their intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. The role focuses on developing students' competencies and skills necessary for success in society, particularly in the health science field.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, associate's degree, or high school diploma/GED with equivalent wage-earning experience as required by certification.
  • Valid Texas career and technical education certificate with necessary endorsements and training for the assigned subject.
  • Demonstrated competency in the assigned career and technical education subject area.
  • One year of student teaching or approved internship experience.
  • Two to five years of wage-earning experience in the area of certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with curriculum development in career and technical education.
  • Familiarity with Texas Education Agency guidelines and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that meet district curriculum requirements.
  • Prepare lessons accommodating individual student differences.
  • Plan and utilize appropriate instructional strategies and materials based on students' learning styles.
  • Conduct assessments of student learning styles to inform instructional planning.
  • Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula for special education students as per IEP guidelines.
  • Work with staff to establish instructional goals and methods according to district requirements.
  • Oversee and assign work to instructional aides and volunteers.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through various testing methods.
  • Sponsor extracurricular activities as assigned by the campus principal.
  • Create a conducive classroom environment for learning and development.
  • Manage student behavior according to the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Select instructional materials and maintain necessary reports and records.
  • Establish professional relationships and communication with parents, students, and community members.
  • Participate in staff development activities to enhance job-related skills.
  • Attend faculty meetings and serve on committees as required.
