About The Position

This position is for a Teacher Assistant at Devereux's CARES (Center for Autism Research and Education Services) School. CARES is an educational program licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, providing services to students aged 5 to 21 diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities. The program focuses on teaching each student based on his or her unique strengths and needs, aiming to increase independence for each student. The role involves working within an educational environment that is focused on the most current treatment interventions in the area of Autism, joining a multi-disciplinary team with a strengths-based approach, emphasizing applied behavior analysis and positive behavior supports. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education preferred
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and/or behavior disorders preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensure student safety
  • Assist in establishing classroom environments that is conducive to maximum learning by maintaining structure and guiding students to socially appropriate behaviors
  • Work with the Special Education Teachers to implement skill acquisition and behavioral reduction programs individually and in small groups
  • Perform ongoing data collection and record keeping as directed by Special Education Teacher
  • Support and reinforce PBIS goals and objectives
