About The Position

St. Ambrose Catholic School is seeking supportive and dedicated Part‑Time Teacher Assistants to assist classroom teachers in creating a positive, faith‑centered, and engaging learning environment. This role provides essential support to students and teachers by helping with daily classroom activities, reinforcing instructional goals, and contributing to a safe and welcoming school community. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, demonstrates patience and professionalism, and is committed to the mission of Catholic education. He/she demonstrates a warm, calm presence and a genuine desire to support students’ academic and personal growth. This part‑time role requires reliability, flexibility, and a spirit of service toward students, families, and staff.

Requirements

• Experience working with children in a school, childcare, or parish setting preferred.
• Ability to follow directions, support instructional goals, and work collaboratively with teachers.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Patience, dependability, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
• Willingness to support the mission and values of Catholic education.
• Must meet Archdiocesan compliance requirements, including Safe Environment training.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher with daily instructional activities and routines.
• Support students during lessons, small‑group work, and independent tasks.
• Provide individualized assistance to students who need additional guidance or encouragement.
• Help maintain a safe, orderly, and nurturing classroom environment.
• Supervise students during transitions, recess, lunch, and other non‑instructional times as assigned.
• Prepare classroom materials, supplies, and learning resources as directed by the teacher.
• Communicate respectfully and effectively with students, teachers, and staff.
• Uphold school policies, safety procedures, and expectations for student behavior.
• Contribute to a positive school culture that reflects the values of St. Ambrose Catholic School.
