Summary: The Preschool Teacher Assistant supports the Preschool Teacher in delivering a high-quality, developmentally appropriate early childhood education program. Under the supervision of the Director of Early Childhood Services, this role assists with lesson planning, child assessments, and classroom management, while fostering a safe, clean, and engaging environment that promotes children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth. The Preschool Teacher Assistant builds positive relationships with children, parents, and staff, maintains accurate records, and ensures compliance with Ibero policies and NYSOCFS regulations. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with Ibero staff, partner agencies, and parents. Assist the Preschool Teacher in planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum. Conduct initial assessments of children to evaluate progress and adjust educational plans as needed. Communicate regularly with parents regarding their child’s development and progress. Help organize and maintain a clean, safe, and inviting classroom environment. Prepare the learning environment to promote children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth. Adhere to Ibero’s policies, procedures, and NYSOCFS regulations. Maintain attendance records, weekly lesson plans, and other required documentation. Notify the Head Teacher and Director of any parent concerns. Foster a positive self-image in children through an atmosphere of love, trust, and positive guidance. Always supervise and ensure the safety of all children. Coordinate and support special activities and field trips. Assist with minor cleaning duties as assigned by the Head Teacher or Director. Report any classroom maintenance or repair needs to the Director. Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner. Participate in scheduled staff meetings, parent meetings, staff training, and center events. Maintain confidentiality regarding all children and families. Engage in ongoing professional development. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Early Childhood Services. Authority: Under the general direction of the Director of Early Childhood Services, exercises considerable initiative in making decisions regarding activities in the classroom. The employee supervises and manages the Preschool classroom and assistant Teacher.
