About The Position

POSITION FUNCTION/PURPOSE To assist the classroom teacher in the care and instruction of the students in the classroom.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED and/or 30 semester hours of an accredited college or university
• Educational Aide Certificate from state of Texas
• Have satisfied one of the following requirements:
• Have three creditable years of experience, as defined in Chapter 153, Subchapter CC, of this title (relating to Commissioner’s Rules of Creditable Years of Service), as either an educational aide I or II; or b. have completed 30 semester credit hours of college credit with some emphasis on child growth and development or related subject areas
• Have experience working with students and parents as approved by the employing superintendent
• Good people skills
• Ability to work well with children
• Ability to work well with all students

Responsibilities

• Follow the directions of the supervisor
• Preparing materials and displays as directed
• Demonstrating acceptable written and verbal skills
• Working in a cooperative manner with both teacher and students
• Assisting the teacher in maintaining student discipline
• Assisting the teacher in assuming responsibility for the care and safety of students
• Assisting the teacher in assuming responsibility for the care of equipment and teaching materials
• Changing diapers for students
• Toileting students
• Feeding or assisting with feeding students
• Assisting with lifting students
• Assisting students with other self-help skills
• Blending foods
• Cooking foods
• Assisting with loading and unloading students
• All other duties as assigned by the supervisor
