The Teacher Assistant will assist the classroom teacher in providing instruction to children in large groups, small groups, and individually. Responsibilities include planning and preparing materials for daily instruction, supporting teachers in managing classroom behavior, attending to children who are upset or have had an accident, and implementing strategies recommended by therapists. The role also involves maintaining clean and safe indoor and outdoor learning environments, changing diapers, assisting with toileting and handwashing, and helping with special events. The Teacher Assistant will maintain standards required by the Department of Human Services, NAEYC, and OSU, assist in the preparation of portfolios, and participate in professional development and required annual trainings. This is a full-time position that will not have scheduled hours during the months of June and July unless work is available.
