About The Position

The Teacher Assistant position is a support staff role within the district, aimed at assisting in the instruction of students in reading, writing, and math. The position is open until filled and is located district-wide. Candidates must meet at least one of the minimum qualifications to be considered for the role.

Requirements

• Passed the Educational Testing Services (ETS) ParaPro Assessment Praxis Test.
• Hold an Associate's Degree or higher, or have completed 2 years of college with at least 48 college credits.
• Hold a Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate (for Early Childhood Development Center vacancies).
• Experience working with children.
• Experience working with persons with disabilities.
• Strong desire to work one-on-one with students.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Willingness to learn about the unique needs of students with disabilities.
• Pass a criminal history background check and physical, and show proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the instruction of reading, writing, and math.
• Work one-on-one with students, particularly those with disabilities.
• Communicate effectively with children and teachers.
• Learn the unique educational and personal needs of students with disabilities.
