Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's degree or higher in Education or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred.
  • Experience with special education or English language learners is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with children.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office, email).

Responsibilities

  • Support the classroom teacher in implementing lesson plans and instructional activities.
  • Help prepare teaching materials and resources.
  • Conduct small group or one-on-one instruction under the guidance of the teacher.
  • Assist in maintaining a positive and orderly classroom environment.
  • Help monitor student behavior and implement behavior management strategies.
  • Supervise students during classroom activities, lunch, recess, and field trips.
  • Provide additional assistance to students with special needs or those requiring extra help.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Encourage student engagement and participation.
  • Assist with grading assignments, tests, and projects.
  • Help maintain student records and track progress.
  • Perform clerical tasks such as photocopying, filing, and organizing classroom materials.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences and staff meetings as required.
  • Provide feedback to the classroom teacher on student progress and behavior.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
