To assist the classroom teacher in the care and instruction of the students in the classroom.
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED and/or 30 semester hours of an accredited college or university
Educational Aide Certificate from state of Texas
Some experience working with special education children
Possess, or be willing to apply for, a TEA Educational Aide Certificate (personal expense)
Educational Aide certificate as established by the State Board for Educator Certification. The applicant for the educational aide certificate shall
hold a high school diploma, the equivalent of a high school diploma, or higher;
have satisfied one of the following requirements:
has three creditable years of experience, as defined in Chapter 153, Subchapter CC, of this title (relating to Commissioner's Rules on Creditable Years of Service), as either an educational aide I or II;
has completed 30 semester credit hours of college credit with some emphasis on child growth and development or related subject areas;
and have experience working with students and parents as approved by the employing superintendent.
