About The Position

The Teacher Assistant - Special Education I position is designed to support students with special needs in both elementary and secondary school settings. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with children, particularly those with special needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other staff.
• Patience and understanding in dealing with students with diverse needs.

Nice To Haves

• Associate's degree or higher in education or a related field.
• Certification in special education or related training.
• Experience with behavior management techniques.

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher in implementing educational programs for students with special needs.
• Provide one-on-one support to students during classroom activities.
• Help manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and resources.
• Support students in their daily activities, including personal care and mobility.
• Collaborate with teachers and other staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
• Monitor and document student progress and behavior.
