About The Position

West Bolivar Consolidated School District Teacher Assistant Qualifications : 1. Two years of college or Associate Degree 2. Pass score on work-keys 3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable Professional Responsibilities: Follow school board policy and rules and regulations. Administer, score, and record such achievement and diagnostic tests as the teacher recommend for individual students. Work with individual students or small group of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher. Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing materials or skills. Operate and care for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes. Help student master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher. Distribute and collect workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction. Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher. Keep bulletin board and other classroom learning displays up-to-date. Assist with such large group activities as drill work, reading aloud, and story-telling Read to students, listen to students read, and participate in other forms of oral communication with students. Assist students in the library or media center. Check notebooks, correct papers, and supervise testing and make-up work as assigned by the teacher. Check and record student attendance. Collect and record collection of money. Help students with their clothing. Assist with lunch, snack, and cleanup routines. Alert the regular teacher to any problem or special information about individual students. Serve as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher. Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers. Participate in in-service training programs as assigned. Participate in daily and long-range lesson and classroom activity planning. Foster good eating habits and table manners in children. Assist teacher in maintaining neat work and study areas. Assist with supervision of children during regular play periods. Collects and displays suitable material for educational displays. Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher, Principal, Assistant Principal, and Superintendent. Terms of Employment: Salary and work schedule will be established by the board. Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
