Assists lead teacher in a variety of classrooms in the Kids Campus Early Learning Center. Must be committed to serving a diverse community. Actively participates in and contributes to continuous quality improvement.

  • Teacher Assistant I: High School Diploma or equivalent, Child Development Certificate (CDC), Six (6) months of experience in an early childhood setting OR High School Diploma or equivalent, 12+ credits in early childhood education, Six (6) months of experience in an early childhood setting
  • Teacher Assistant II: HS + 29 Early Childhood Credits (equivalent to NM Professional Certificate), One (1) year of experience in an early childhood setting
  • Teacher Assistant III: AA Degree in Early Childhood or closely related, One (1) year of experience in an early childhood setting
  • Teacher Assistant IV: Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood, One (1) year of experience in an early childhood setting OR Unrelated Bachelor’s Degree, Early Childhood Teaching License, One (1) year of experience in an early childhood setting OR Unrelated Bachelor’s Degree, AA in Early Childhood, One (1) year of experience in an early childhood setting
  • Required to successfully pass all required background checks, including those conducted by ECECD and Santa Fe Community College prior to employment and periodically thereafter in accordance with regulatory and institutional requirements.
  • Must possess and maintain current Pediatric Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Pediatric First Aid certifications.
  • New hires are required to obtain both certifications and any required ECECD trainings within ninety (90) days of hire and renew them on or before their expiration date.
  • Must complete a minimum of 3 academic credits per semester (Summer, Fall, and Spring) toward an Associate of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education as required for Kids Campus NAEYC Accreditation.

Responsibilities

  • Assists Lead Teachers in planning, implementing and documenting activities, preparing daily logs, incident reports and completing portfolios.
  • Assists teachers in setting up materials and equipment for daily activities.
  • Ensure sanitation and daily cleaning of toys, classroom furniture, laundry, dishes and surfaces.
  • Ensures the safety, involvement, and creativity of each child.
  • Works with individual children and small groups, supervising and assisting them in daily routines.
  • Supervises children on the playground after preparing them for outdoor playtime.
  • Assists children with daily activities such as dressing, toileting, personal hygiene, diapering, eating, and applying sunscreen.
  • Fulfills the responsibilities and duties of Teachers in their absence.
  • Provides coverage in the classroom for staff breaks and lunches.
  • Accompanies Lead Teacher to home visits for Early PreK/PreK children.
  • Assists Teachers with completion of children’s portfolios, data collection, and Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) assessments.
  • Communicate with families in person and in writing to foster strong, transparent relationships with families through effective and consistent communication.
  • Complies with all NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children), ECECD (Early childhood Education & Care Department); CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) and other licensing and regulation requirements.
  • Attends the required professional development for Kids Campus Bilingual curriculum, NAEYC accreditation, NM PreK, and the ECECD.
