National Children’s Center, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that is one of the region’s largest non-governmental providers of services for individuals with developmental disabilities, offering an array of services to infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and adults in the Washington metropolitan area. Our mission is to provide a lifetime of opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Summary: Our Early Learning Center (ELC) strives to provide high-quality early childhood education and early intervention for children with and without disabilities in an inclusive educational setting. The Teacher Assistant participates in the planning and implementation of classroom activities and provides basic care for Infants and Toddlers enrolled in the program. Schedule & Location: The ELC is located on Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue in SE Washington, DC. This is a full time position (40 hours/week) Monday-Friday from either 8:00am-5:00pm or 8:30am-5:30pm. This position pays an hourly range of $23.43 - $24.80 depending on education level.
Requirements
- High School Diploma and Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate or AA degree in Early Childhood Education required
- COVID-19 - you are required to provide proof of vaccination prior to your first day of work
Responsibilities
- Assist with the planning and implementation of classroom activities
- Assume responsibility for the classroom when the Teacher is absent
- Maintain appropriate cleanliness of the room and materials including strict adherence to program sanitation and procedures
- Lesson planning for small group activities
- Ensure that written and verbal communication with parent consistently occurs and is documented
- Participate in staff development training activities and learning opportunities
- Present relevant information at team meetings and parent meetings when needed
