About The Position

The Teacher Asst helps create a caring, safe environment for the children and assists in activities to deliver quality educational care. Contributes to a well-run, organized, responsive environment. Works with Teacher by contributing to planning and implementation of activities and lessons. Follows direction of Teacher to sustain day-to-day responsibilities including facilitating learning experiences, room arrangement, personal care routines, health and safety practices, and supervision of children. Completes Daily Sheets, Illness/Injury Reports and records observation notes of children's skills and abilities. Completes periodic assessments/screenings, provides input for preparation of children's progress reports. Must communicate effectively, actively listen, and work well with others in team environment. Maintains positive relationship with children/staff/families. Serves as positive role-model and upholds program-wide values and other center quality initiatives through professional conduct.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required.
  • Completion of Get Started with Center Based Care: Building Blocks for Quality.
  • Pediatric First Aid CPR Required.
  • Mandated Reporter Training to be maintained every 5 years.
  • Fire Safety Training required within a year of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of experience in a teaching role and related experience with young children Preferred.
  • General Experience and knowledge of Ages & Stages Questionnaires, Ounce Scale, and Work Sampling Preferred.
  • General Experience and knowledge of DHS Regulations for Child Care Facilities Preferred.
  • General Experience and knowledge of Environmental Rating Scale (ERS), PA Early Learning Standards and NAEYC Standards Preferred.
