About The Position

The position is for a Teacher specializing in AP Biology, AP Environmental Science, and Research at the Alabama School of Fine Arts. The goal is to help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible members of society. The teacher will report to the Chair of the Math/Science Specialty Department and is expected to engage in various responsibilities to enhance the educational experience of students.

Requirements

• A bachelor's Degree or higher in Biology from an accredited college or university.
• Graduate degree in Biology and/or Secondary Science Education.
• 5 years teaching experience and demonstrated classroom management skills.
• Alabama Teacher's Certificate (not required).
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Executive Director may find appropriate and acceptable.

Nice To Haves

• Special consideration given to anyone who can teach Research Fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Determines individual and class needs.

• Collaborates with colleagues on teams, both in the classroom and the professional learning community.
• Works with all other instructors to facilitate flexible test dates and class attendance to benefit students.
• Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board, state and federal rules and regulations.
• Engages in personal professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics and leadership.
• Utilizes and communicates with internal technology such as e-mail, grade reporting, etc.
• Attends and provides adult leadership and support for school performances and other school and student functions.
