About The Position

The Allied Health Teacher at Lincoln Park Academy is responsible for educating students in the field of nursing and allied health. This role aims to develop students into mature and responsible individuals ready for the workforce by providing them with the necessary knowledge and skills in nursing. The teacher will create a conducive learning environment, plan and implement instructional programs, and assess student progress.

Requirements

  • Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in Florida by the Florida State Board of Nursing.
  • Three years of full-time occupational experience in the nursing field or equivalent part-time experience.
  • Two years of full-time occupational experience or an AA/AS degree in the area of assignment and four years of full-time experience in professional nursing.

  • Experience in teaching or educational settings.
  • Familiarity with curriculum development in allied health education.

Responsibilities

  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in designated locations and times.
  • Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning appropriate to students' maturity and interests.
  • Prepares for classes and shows written evidence of preparation upon request.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Guides the learning process toward achieving curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for lessons.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the needs of students.
  • Strives to implement the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals.
  • Assesses student accomplishments regularly and provides progress reports as required.
  • Diagnoses learning disabilities of students and seeks assistance from district specialists as needed.
  • Takes necessary precautions to protect students and materials.
  • Maintains accurate records as required by law and district policy.
  • Assists administration in implementing policies governing student conduct and maintains order in the classroom.
  • Makes provisions for being available to students and parents outside instructional hours when required.
  • Plans and supervises assignments for teacher aides and evaluates their performance.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on committees as required.
  • Maintains appropriate certification and works with the CTE Department for credentialing.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the principal.
