About The Position

Liberty Common School is seeking a full-time teacher-aide beginning August of 2026 at the Aristotle campus. Liberty Common School is a public, tuition-free school chartered by the Poudre School District in Fort Collins, Colorado utilizing the Core Knowledge© curriculum and timeless principles of classically oriented academic instruction. The Aristotle campus currently enrolls over 425 students grades k-6. Liberty Common School follows the Core Knowledge© Sequence in grades k–8. This curriculum encompasses language arts, mathematics, science, history, geography, fine arts, and physical education. The curriculum is characterized by knowledge that is content-rich, cumulative, content-specific, and coherent. The school’s mission is to provide excellence and fairness in education by teaching a contextual body of organized knowledge, the skills of learning, and the values of a democratic society. This is done through parental choice, partnership with teachers, and student acceptance of responsibility for her/his academic effort. The teacher-aide position plays an important role at Liberty Common School, supporting and supplementing delivery of the educational program in classrooms. This position works closely with classroom instructors to effectively integrate subjects and methods with the teachers' overall instructional plans. This position may supplement the educational program by delivering specialized skills and knowledge to students.

  • Must be able to maneuver uneven surfaces.
  • Must be able to carry or transfer up to 20lbs of supplies frequently.
  • Must be able to work in occasionally loud environments.
  • Must be able to frequently use office technology including computers, copiers, and printers.
  • Must be able to use commercial office tools including paper cutters and staplers.

  • Experience with the Core Knowledge© Sequence and demonstrated ability in teaching this curriculum.

Responsibilities

  • Research and gather resources and materials needed for lesson units.
  • Set up classroom materials and equipment.
  • Coordinate classroom volunteer activities.
  • Assist in monitoring and correcting students during lunchtime and recess.
  • Enforce administrative policies and rules governing students.
  • Conduct testing and evaluate student work as directed by teachers.
  • Conduct student interventions.
  • Monitor, assess, and report on students’ progress.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with teachers, other faculty, students, and parents.
  • Tutor and assist children individually or in small groups to help them master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers.
  • Assist in maintaining inventories of materials, equipment, or products.
  • Adapt communication and teaching styles when necessary to support individual students and their families.
