About The Position

The Maryland School for the Deaf (MSD) is a diverse, bilingual community who in partnership with families, provides an equitable and exemplary education in a nurturing, engaging, and challenging environment to ensure our students achieve personal excellence and become lifelong learners. We are currently accepting applications to create a pool of qualified individuals who can work on an as needed basis to temporarily assist in the classrooms on any given day.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Fluency in ASL and written English required.
• Knowledge of students with additional disabilities.
• Ability to teach students on different levels and with varying educational backgrounds.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of Deaf Community preferred.

Responsibilities

• Implement student instructional programs and daily schedules as directed by the teacher.
• Accommodate and follow each behavior support plan for individual students.
• Assist with the arrival and dismissal of students.
• Supervise students during off-campus instruction.
• Provide a safe environment for students at all times.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of students and school personnel information.
• Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills and effective classroom management.
• Exhibit strong written communication skills.
• Work with a diverse student population, including underserved students.
