About The Position

As a Teacher Aide/Assistant, you'll support the classroom teacher with daily routines and educational activities, and be a positive role model for children with diverse needs. The Starting Place (TSP) offers both a preschool daycare program for children ages 2.9 to 5 and is also the only full-service special education preschool in Columbia County. Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (TASC)
• Minimum of 1-year experience working with preschool-aged children, preferably in special education
• Ability and willingness to be certified in all required training (provided during weekday hours)
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly, and up to 80 lbs. occasionally
• Willingness to assist across classrooms as needed

Responsibilities

• Assist children with daily activities, including self-care tasks like toileting, dressing, and eating
• Support children during educational and recreational activities, and during arrival/departure times
• Maintain a nurturing, safe, and clean classroom environment
• Follow individual behavior plans and collaborate with the classroom team on IEP goals
• Prepare and organize classroom materials based on lesson plans
• Step into any classroom as needed to ensure appropriate coverage
• Attend staff meetings, team meetings, and required training
