LEOMINSTER PUBLIC SCHOOLS 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR Leominster Center for Excellence 9-12 MATH TEACHER/ADVISOR Qualifications: Current MA Teaching License, Math preferred Leominster Center for Excellence (LCE) is seeking a passionate, creative, and collaborative educator. LCE is a small, innovative high school and a member of the Big Picture Learning network. Teachers at LCE serve as advisors to a cohort of no more than 15 students, supporting learning experiences that are personalized, interest-driven, and grounded in real-world application. Responsibilities of the advisor include: ? Guiding students in the development of high-quality, multidisciplinary projects that demonstrate grade-level skills across content areas (we call them learning domains). ? Supporting students in identifying, securing, and sustaining meaningful internships with qualified mentors. ? Planning and facilitating both content instruction and interdisciplinary, project-based learning that reflects students’ interests, particularly their internship experiences. ? Collaborating closely with colleagues to design, support, and assess student work, ensuring alignment to standards and shared expectations. ? Participating in a collaborative assessment process in which advisors contribute their content-area expertise to evaluate student progress. ? Preparing students for and supporting them through three annual Exhibitions, and leading regular advisor meetings with students and families to set goals and develop individualized learning plans. ? Supporting students in the development and maintenance of high-quality portfolios that showcase growth, skill development, and mastery across learning domains, and serve as a central component of assessment. ? Collaborating with colleagues to complete report cards that include both competency-based grading and narrative feedback, with the student’s advisor responsible for finalizing and communicating the report. ? Contributing to a positive, team-oriented school culture where all staff share responsibility for student success. ? Teaching relevant content and skills to prepare students for postsecondary success, with a focus on Mathematics. ? Ensuring that all students graduate with a viable five-year plan for success.
